چکیده

Within the QCD sum-rule approach in an external field, we calculate the baryon matrix element of isovector-scalar current, HB = 〈B|uu−dd|B〉/2MB, for octet baryons, which appears in the response of the correlator of baryon interpolating fields to a constant isovector-scalar external field. The sum rules are obtained for a general baryon interpolating field with an appropriate form for the phenomenological ansatz of the spectral density. The key phenomenological input is the response of the quark condensates to the external field. To first order in the quark mass difference δm = md − mu, the non-electromagnetic part of the baryon isospin mass splitting is given by the product of δm and HB. Therefore, QCD sum-rule calculation of HB leads to an estimate of the octet baryon isospin mass splittings. The resulting values are comparable to the experimental values; however, the sum-rule predictions for HB are sensitive to the values of the response of the quark condensates to the external source, which are not well determined. Gauge invariant electromagnetic two-point function for heavy-light quark systems.

A gauge invariant electromagnetic two-point function, crucial to the investigations of the violation of isospin symmetry, is derived for heavy-light quark systems. Thus QED can be consistently introduced into the QCD Sum Rule method, which was not previously possible. The origin of mass differences in isospin multiplets has long been of great interest in nuclear and particle physics as a source...

New I = J Rules for the Baryon Vertices in 1 / N c Expansion

We apply the 1/Nc expansion in QCD to the baryon vertices. We find new model independent properties for the isoscalar and isovector baryon vertices from the view point of 1/Nc expansion in QCD. One of these results, I = J rule, have been already found. The other properties, new I = J rules, are the rules about the isospin and strangeness dependence for the baryon vertices. ∗e-mail addresses: ta...

Quantitative corrections to mass sum rules involving baryons containing heavy quarks

Quantitative corrections are estimated to three of Franklin's sum rules involving the masses of baryons containing at least one charmed quark and to three analogous sum rules for baryons containing at least one bottom quark. The corrections arise from three-body contributions to baryon interaction energies and are calculated from a semiempirical formula for the colormagnetic contributions to ba...

Scalar-Meson-Baryon Coupling Constants in QCD Sum Rules

The external-field QCD Sum Rules method is used to evaluate the coupling constants of the light-isoscalar scalar meson (“σ” or ǫ) to the Λ, Σ, and Ξ baryons. It is shown that these coupling constants as calculated from QCD Sum Rules are consistent with SU(3)-flavor relations, which leads to a determination of the F/(F + D) ratio of the scalar octet assuming ideal mixing: we find αs ≡ F/(F + D) ...

Isospin Breaking in the Nucleon Isovector Axial Charge from QCD Sum Rules

The isospin breaking in the nucleon isovector axial charge, g3 A, are calculated within the external field QCD sum-rule approach. The isospin violations arising from the difference in up and down current quark masses and in up and down quark condensates are included; electromagnetic effects are not considered. We find δg3 A/g 3 A ≈ (0.5− 1.0)× 10 −2, where δg3 A = (g 3 A)p + (g 3 A)n and g3 A =...
